Dr. McKenna Gibson
“I’m living my dream—practicing orthodontics and getting to change lives one smile at a time. As cheesy and cliché as that may sound, it’s the truth! I have an intense passion for people, and getting to serve my patients while leading a team alongside my husband brings me so much joy.
After spending nearly a decade practicing as a general dentist, I bring a unique perspective to orthodontics. I love looking at the big picture—not just creating beautiful smiles, but helping patients achieve healthy, functional results that will serve them for years to come.
But my favorite part? The people. I love watching patients, both kids and adults, transform throughout their smile journey and building meaningful relationships with them along the way!”
A bit about Dr. McKenna
Dr. McKenna Gibson is a proud small-town Tennessee girl, born and raised in McMinnville, Tennessee. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University’s Honors College with a degree in Biochemistry before attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. During dental school, she served as Vice President of her class, was actively involved in the American Association of Women Dentists, and was honored as the 2014 Dentist of the Year by the UAB School of Dentistry Alumni Chapter.
Following dental school, Dr. McKenna practiced general dentistry for nine years before pursuing her dream of becoming an orthodontist. She returned to UAB to complete her specialty training in orthodontics.
Her extensive background in general dentistry gives her a distinctive approach to orthodontic care. Dr. McKenna believes that a beautiful smile should be more than just straight teeth. She is passionate about creating individualized treatment plans that prioritize aesthetics, function, and long-term dental health.
Beyond patient care, Dr. McKenna has a heart for leadership and a passion for helping others thrive. She loves encouraging and developing the Gibson Orthodontics team, believing that when people feel valued and empowered, that same care naturally extends to their patients. She is also the founder of The AlignHer Collective, a North Alabama community dedicated to uniting, uplifting, and mentoring women in dentistry.
Outside the office, Dr. McKenna’s favorite role is being Mama to her and Dr. Matt’s four children. She enjoys cooking, exercising, and spending time with her family. The Gibsons worship at Madison Church of Christ.
